Itinerary

Day 1

Auckland to Mount Maunganui

Get ready for a day filled with adventure and stunning scenery as we depart Auckland and make our way to Tauranga. Along the way, we'll pause for a pleasant stroll in the picturesque Karangakake gorge and indulge in a satisfying lunch in Waihi. Afterward, we'll follow the stunning coastline to reach the charming town of Mt Maunganui, where we'll spend the afternoon soaking up the peaceful atmosphere. As the day winds down, we'll come together for a group dinner to share stories and savour local cuisine.

Day 2

Mount Maunganui to Rotorua

Get ready for a day of enchantment and wonder as we embark on a journey to Rotorua. We'll begin our day with a visit to Hobbiton, the famous movie set featured in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies. During our guided tour, we'll learn about the movie-making process, explore the intricate details of the set, and even enjoy a delicious lunch in the charming Shire's Rest Cafe. Afterwards, we'll continue our journey to Rotorua, where we'll be surrounded by natural hot springs and geothermal wonders.

Day 3

Rotorua

Today is yours to embrace the activities of your choice, from the adrenaline-pumping white water rafting on the Kaituna River to a relaxing soak in the Polynesian Spa's thermal pools. Alternatively, you might choose to explore the Redwoods Treewalk, take an e-bike tour, or hike up the stunning Mt Tarawera. Whatever your preference, we'll ensure that you have a memorable day in Rotorua.

Day 4

Rotorua to Taupō

Today, we'll take you to the iconic Te Puia, where you'll witness the region's geothermal wonders and enjoy a traditional hangi feast. Afterwards, we'll head to Huka Falls to witness the incredible power of the falls before making our way to Taupo. In the evening, you have the option to embark on a stunning sunset cruise, where you'll take in the stunning views of Lake Taupo and its surrounding landscape.

Day 5

Taupō

Taupo is all about relaxation and exploration. Spend the day at your own pace, exploring the town's local attractions or taking part in one of the optional activities. The Tongariro Crossing or jet boating is a popular option for those seeking adventure, while fishing, scenic flights, or a soak in some hot springs and are also available for those looking for a more relaxed experience.

Day 6

Taupō to Cambridge (via Waitomo)

Get ready for a day filled with adventure and discovery as we depart from Taupo and head to Waitomo Caves. Here we'll embark on a guided tour to explore the magical world of Waitomo's underground caves, marvel at the fascinating limestone formations, and witness the mesmerizing glowworms that light up the caverns. After our cave adventure, we'll head to Cambridge. We'll have a chance to explore the town's quaint streets, visit the local shops and cafes, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon. We'll end the day with a group dinner.

Day 7

Cambridge to Auckland

For your last day in the North Island, we'll take you to the stunning Hamilton Gardens, famous for its exquisite themed gardens, each representing different civilisations, cultures, and historical periods. You'll enjoy a guided tour and a delicious lunch before we make our way back to Auckland, where you will be dropped off at the airport to embark to the South Island to continue your adventure

Day 8

Christchurch to Tekapo

Today we start our week from Christchurch, where we'll travel through the stunning Rakaia Gorge, a picturesque natural wonder. We'll stop for lunch in the charming town of Geraldine, where you can taste some of the best local food and drinks. Then, we'll make our way to the beautiful Lake Tekapo, famous for its turquoise water and incredible views of the Southern Alps.

Day 9

Tekapo to Queenstown

Today we journey to Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand, via the iconic Mt Difficulty for a lunch and wine-tasting experience that will leave your taste buds dancing. After lunch, we'll head to Chard Farm, a picturesque vineyard nestled on the banks of the Kawarau River, where you can sample some of New Zealand's finest wines.

Day 10

Milford Sound

Prepare to be awestruck as we travel to Milford Sound, often called the eighth wonder of the world. Enjoy a scenic cruise through the fiord, past majestic waterfalls and towering cliffs, and breathtaking landscapes that make this place so special, with the chance to spot some of the local wildlife.

Day 11

Queenstown

Today is a free day for you to explore the adventure capital of the world. With a plethora of optional activities available, such as bungy jumping, skydiving, jet boating, a scenic hike or a leisurely stroll around the city's charming streets, there's something for everyone.

Day 12

Queenstown to Franz Josef

On this day, we'll travel from Queenstown to Franz Josef, another picturesque town famous for its stunning glaciers. We'll make a stop in Wanaka, a beautiful lakeside town, where you can enjoy some of the best views in New Zealand. We'll also visit Lake Matheson, known for its mirror-like reflections of the surrounding mountains.

Day 13

Franz Josef

Today is a free day for you to explore Franz Josef, with the option to take a guided walk on the glacier, relax in the thermal pools, or go on a scenic helicopter tour to explore the surrounding area. We'll also include a Greenstone Carving experience, where you'll learn about the local Maori culture and create your own unique piece of jewellery.

Day 14

Franz Josef to Christchurch

On our final day, we'll make our way back to Christchurch, stopping in Hokitika, famous for its jade carvings, and Arthur's Pass, known for its stunning mountain landscapes. Finally, we'll visit Castle Hill, a collection of incredible limestone rock formations that are sure to leave you in awe. We'll finish our tour back in Christchurch, where you can reflect on the incredible experiences and memories made during your luxury bus tour of New Zealand.

Getting there

There are multiple options for traveling to Christchurch. You have the choice to fly via Auckland with various international carriers or directly with domestic carriers within New Zealand. Additionally, depending on your departure location, selected airlines also offer direct flights to Christchurch. Your pick-up location will be at the main entrance to The Fable Hotel (166 Gloucester Street, Christchurch Central). It is located in the heart of the city and easy to find. The easiest way to get from the airport to the city is by Taxi or Uber.
